Economic Department

The Economic Department at the Consulate General of the Netherlands in San Francisco supports the economic health of the Netherlands by consulting with relevant state and local authorities and business communities, providing the Dutch business community with pertinent information, and organizing trade-promotional events and other activities focused on knowledge exchange and business development. The department’s activities are focused on water management, agriculture, the environment, IT, and creative industries. The Consulate is actively engaged in supporting networks in Silicon Valley, through the Holland in the Valley initiative, and in Hollywood, through the Holland Hollywood Connection initiative.

The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) helps North American companies jump-start or expand their pan-European operations, free and on a confidential basis. The Netherlands Offices for Science & Technology (NOST) in San Francisco, CA provides expertise concerning local science, technology trends, and developments in the areas of Life Sciences and Health, Hight Tech Systems, IT, Agriculture and Food, Sustainability, Creative Industries, and Innovation and Entrepeneurship. NOST provides local contacts to technology companies, research institutes, government, and universities from the Netherlands and specializes in finding the relevant information and best partners for interested parties from the Netherlands and North America. We also organize technology and R&D missions across the various technology disciplines to facilitate exchanges and promote partnerships between organizations from the Netherlands and North America.

Public Diplomacy, Communications & Creative Industries

The department of Public Diplomacy, Communications & Creative Industries promotes a greater understanding of the Netherlands through special events, campaigns, partnerships with nonprofit organizations, and participation in conferences. The department encourages and facilitates cooperation and exchange between the Netherlands and the United States in the fields of water management, sustainable urban planning, international law and humans rights, and the creative industries.

Honorary Consulates

The Consulate General of the Netherlands in San Francisco resort includes Honorary Consulates in Denver, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland,  Salt Lake City, and Seattle. Together they serve the thirteen western-most states in the US: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

The Honorary Consulates are direct representatives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and provide Dutch visitors and the Dutch community with information on various consular issues. Together with the Consulate General of the Netherlands in San Francisco they provide Dutch companies and (cultural) institutions with information and support as well. Visa and passports are filed at the Consulate General of the Netherlands in San Francisco and the Honorary Consulate in Los Angeles. You may request a mobile station to come to a Honorary Consulate near you to process fingerprints and passport applications by sending an e-mail to the Honorary Consul.The Honorary Consul will keep you updated if a mobile station is to come near you.
